First Freelance MD, Mark Beal-Preston, elected to new FCSA Board
First Freelance is pleased to announce that its Managing Director, Mark Beal-Preston, has been elected to the new FCSA Board.
FCSA is the largest independent trade association for professional employment services, with members providing contractor accountancy, umbrella and business support services to the flexible workforce. FCSA has 15 Accredited Members and 48 Associate Members who collectively represent over 110,000 self-employed contractors. FCSA’s purpose is to set the standard in the marketplace. It’s Charter sets out the minimum standards that is expected from all of its Members. Accredited Members also voluntarily submit their business operations to be independently tested by independent regulated auditors and lawyers to confirm adherence with the stringent FCSA Compliance Code – widely regarded as the UK’s compliance gold standard for service providers. FCSA is committed to supporting and sustaining a long term flexible workforce in the UK.
Previously FCSA was directed by a Governing Body made up of its Accredited Members only. As the FCSA has grown and opened its doors to Associate Members to be more representative of the entire sector, the way it is governed has changed to reflect its growing membership and to allow for FCSA to be governed by a smaller elected Board.
The Governing Body has been replaced by a new Board consisting of a Chair, a Chief Executive Officer, four Accredited Members (of which Mark is one) – elected by the other FCSA Accredited Member firms, and two Associate Members – elected by the FCSA Associate Member firms.
The gaining popularity and reputation of FCSA has led to unprecedented growth and the natural inclusion of a wider base and category of Membership. Raising standards across the industry and driving compliance throughout the supply chain is something I am passionate about. As a representative of the Accredited Members, I look forward to contributing to the FCSA Board and helping shape the future of our sector by ensuring the standards, longevity and contribution of our vital services and the UK’s contingent workforce continues to be valued and protected.
Julia Kermode, CEO of FCSA, added:
I was delighted First Freelance achieved FCSA Accreditation, and having spent the last couple of years working with Mark Beal-Preston as a member of the Governing Body I was very pleased when he was elected to our new Board. We have much to do, both in terms of continuing to raise standards and professionalise our sector, and influencing policymakers, but also in terms of encouraging businesses to put compliance at their core. Mark is passionate about the same issues that matter to FCSA, and through his contribution on the Board we will be well positioned to achieve our goals.
